Wolves are currently in talks to sign Newcastle United’s £34million target

Wolverhampton Wanderers are in talks with Benfica to sign Newcastle United target Goncalo Ramos in the summer transfer window, according to reports May Futebol.

May Futebol have reported that Wolves have started talks with Benfica to sign striker Ramos this summer.

Talks are currently in the early stages with Portuguese giants Benfica ready to let the striker go, but only on a permanent basis.

Newcastle United have also been linked with Ramos.

recording reported last month that Newcastle and Nottingham Forest are among the clubs interested in the 21-year-old forward.

According to the report, Benfica are ready to sell Ramos for €40m (£33.87m).

Wolverhampton Wanderers or Newcastle United for Goncalo Ramos?

In our view, Wolverhampton Wanderers are more likely than Newcastle United to sign Goncalo Ramos from Benfica in the summer transfer window.

Unless Benfica are willing to sell the 21-year-old for less than €40m (£33.87m), we don’t think Newcastle will sign him.

After all, the Magpies have two very good and experienced strikers in Callum Wilson and Chris Wood.

On the other hand, Wolves could use a new striker.

Raul Jimenez is a brilliant striker but Wanderers need someone to back him up.

Ramos made 17 starts and 12 reserve missions last season in the Portuguese league.

The youngster scored seven goals and provided one assist in those games.
