Sydney Leday celebrated her 24th birthday just two days before the Houston shooting
The deadly shooting that killed Migos rapper Takeoff and injured Leday happened just two days after her 24th birthday. On Halloween night, Leday celebrated the milestone with her friends.
Like any other 24-year-old, I was just outside and partying.
Leday, who used to live in Los Angeles, was familiar with celebrity sightings. When she and her friends came to a private party that Quavo and Takeoff attended, she was out of phase.
The 24-year-old recalled that the party started like a normal event. But by 2:30 a.m., she could “sense” that something was wrong.
Leday said she saw Quavo get upset during a game of craps. While she believed the disagreement began as “friendly banter,” things soon took a turn for the worse.
I knew then that something was wrong.
Then the argument escalated. And she turned to run away. After KHO 11that’s when the shots started ringing at 810 Billiards and Bowling Alley.
I felt the pain in the back of my head and I felt myself falling… but it really was like something out of a scary movie – ironically it was Halloween night. I wore a nun’s outfit. I had blood everywhere…
She added that she somehow got down an escalator. And to a friend’s car before being driven to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Leday was in a coma and was intubated at the hospital
After KHO 11Leday was in a coma and was intubated at the hospital. When she woke up, the 24-year-old could only think of returning home.
I was in the hospital for about a week. I really didn’t want to be there.
However, Leday is certainly “grateful” to be alive.
All I can really say is that I’m grateful to be here…in this place [the bullet] Blow in my head, I just feel like a miracle…
Leday said she remembers everything that happened that night because she was able to stay awake after the shot.
I remember what happened because I was awake the whole time after I was shot in the head and I called my mother and told her what happened and told her to come (to the hospital).
Leday only found out about Takeoff when she got home
The 24-year-old returned home and said that’s when the “real things” started. She had a panic attack, could not summon an appetite, and even learned that others were injured during the shooting. And ultimately, this takeoff was killed.
Leday’s mother, Sakhara Carmon, has started one GoFundMe to help her daughter pay her medical bills.
The murder of TakeOff in Houston at 810 Billiards and Bowling not only cost the life of a world-class artist (TakeOff); But my family is devastated on a different spectrum. This senseless act of violence left my daughter Sydney, who was an innocent bystander, with a SHOT in the head. We are very fortunate that she survived; But significant medical bills still accrued. (hundreds of thousands). Both physical and mental, disabling damages that require treatment that will likely stay with her to maintain the balance of her natural life. These life-changing, debilitating injuries left my once-happy girl completely traumatized. Sydney has been an unfortunate victim of violence and we ask for support from our family, friends and community. (SHE HAS NO INSURANCE) Thanks in advance.
