There have been an unfortunate number of interactions women have had at their respective workplaces, where they recorded doing their best to stem conversations with overly friendly men who tried to flirt with them.
These types of clips are very different from some of the “gym-bait” videos that influencers have uploaded to social media.

But this one clip of gas station worker Sami Jean (@nobootyshakin) is not one of those clips: In the video, she captures a client who is either unable or uncaring about non-verbal cues when trying to strike up a conversation with her. Sami, who works alone at the gas station, is visibly uncomfortable throughout the discussion with the male patron.

She writes in a text overlay on the video, “POV: You work alone at a gas station overnight,” adding in a caption that she printed the exact same paper over and over again to appear busy in hopes that the man would keep her busy would leave alone.

What turns out to be a conversation between the two is bizarre in itself, but made even more troubling when you consider that she works alone at night.
The man keeps looking over his shoulder at his vehicle and talking about how the police are making him nervous.

He invites Sami for a ride several times and after she finally says she has to go back to work, he flatly asks her if she would like to go to a hotel room with him.

When she declines and tells him that she has a boyfriend, he continues to talk about how much cops make him nervous and how he wishes the store wouldn’t give them free drinks and donuts so much that they wouldn’t be around.
So while many unsavory interactions between people could simply be attributed to someone who is just plain clumsy, this doesn’t appear to be one of those cases.

Her speech goes as follows:
Customer: “I should have taken my faceplate off”
Sami: “Your front panel? What’s wrong with your faceplate?”
C: “Uh, it’s uh, visible.”
S: “Oh, why is that so bad?”

C: “So you, um, kind of laughed, that flirtatious laugh when I asked you if you wanted to go fast in a car.”
S: “Oh, I was just laughing because I’m a bad driver, that’s why”
C: “I meant I’m going as a passenger”
The video then cuts to her looking outside the gas station, and we find out why: it’s because the customer is constantly peering out of the store.

S: “Is there something out there that you always look back on?”
C: “I’m checking my car to make sure nobody’s there, uh…”
S: “Claws?”
C: “Yeah, I’m just looking for one, I call him Robocop, he just loves banging his cuffs on me…they love doing that.”

S: “They love to put the bonds on you?”
C: “Only one I call him Robocop”
S: “Oh, why did he tie you up?”
C: “Uh, because he seems to think I’m doing things that go against his rules and moral values, and I’m doing that,” the man laughs after saying that.

S: “Okay well, I gotta get back to work, so…”
C: “So you want to take a ride?”
S: “Oh, that’s scary, I don’t like the cars”
C: “Don’t you want to drive fast?”
S: “No.”
C: “OK, what if we stayed in a hotel room?”

S: “I don’t know either, I have a boyfriend.”
C: “Really? You didn’t mention him before.”
S: “Well, you didn’t ask me to hang out earlier.”
C: “The police make me nervous. The police could come in here and get free drinks and donuts and shit like that. They should sue them, and they wouldn’t come in here that often.”
S: “No, we like them here.”

Some TikTokers noted that they were shocked that Sami was allowed to work in the case station after 9 p.m., citing Jessica’s lawthe informal term for a law protecting employees after Jessica Lunsford was kidnapped, raped and murdered by a convicted sex offender.
