WASHINGTON – Secretary of the Treasury Janet YellenChairman of the US Federal Reserve Jerome Powell and other senior finance and central bank officials walked out of a meeting of the group of top 20 economies as the Russian delegation began speaking, revealing the fractures among the world’s most powerful economies following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Russian Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov virtually attended the G-20 meeting taking place this week during the spring meeting of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank in Washington, according to people familiar with the meeting. Along with the officers who left the meeting, some others who had joined practically turned off their cameras when Mr. Siluanov started speaking, according to one of the people.
