York City police find drugs and guns thanks to social media videos

YORK, Pa. (WHTM) – York City Police say videos posted to social media have led to the discovery of weapons and drugs and four arrests.
Police say officers discovered videos on social media showing reckless shootings in public spaces while investigating a New Year’s Eve murder.
Using the videos, York City’s Violence Intervention Unit executed four search warrants between January 4 and 5, resulting in the arrests of three adults and one juvenile.
During the execution of the search warrants, police said they recovered:
- 2.5 pounds of marijuana
- 110 grams of cocaine
- 19 grams of heroin
- 59 grams of crack cocaine
- 3 firearms
One of the firearms found was found to be stolen and a second had an automatic trigger, a device that could turn any weapon into an automatic weapon.
“These actions by law enforcement should remind those involved in gun violence that this behavior will not be tolerated,” York City Police said Friday. “Moreover, using social media to brag about these violent actions is not only grotesque but shameful.”
Police were unable to identify the four people arrested in this investigation.
