KGF Chapter 2 has finally premiered in cinemas, but what do we know so far about the TV satellite streaming rights for the new action blockbuster?
With incredible graphics, storytelling and acting, KGF Chapter 1 was a smash hit success with both national audiences in India and audiences around the world.
The historical action film tells the story of Raja Krishnappa Bairya “Rocky” who is unlucky (or rather lucky) to get involved with the gold mafia.
Millions of fans around the world have been patiently waiting for the release of the second chapter, especially considering this is the most expensive Movie in the History of Kannada Film Industry!
As moviegoers flock to theaters to catch the new film, we’re breaking down everything we know about the TV streaming rights for KGF Chapter 2.
KGF Chapter 2 is finally coming to cinemas worldwide
After countless delays in premiering KGF Chapter 2, the production team has finally Approved that the film should hit theaters on April 14, 2022.
KGF Chapter 2 was originally scheduled to premiere in late October 2020 but had to be postponed due to complications surrounding the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and that of Sanjay Dutt health problems.
“KGF 2 would come out as soon as possible because the creators are very clear that they will have to wait until theaters open. Also, it’s more of a pan-Indian release, with the southern market (taking into account).” – Ritesh Sidhwani, distributor of Excel Entertainment, via Bollywood life.
A new poster image appeared on July 6th divided by Prashanth Neel, who commented: “Watch the MAGNUM OPUS come to life soon.” Luckily we didn’t have to wait too long with lead actor Yash afterwards to confirm on his social media page in August 2021 that a new date had been set for April 14, 2022.

KGF Chapter 2 TV streaming rights have been bagged by Zee Network
In addition to announcing the final release date in August 2021, it was revealed that the Zee network has officially acquired the streaming rights for the Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam versions of KGF Chapter 2.
Zee Tamil will transmission the Tamil language dubbing, with Zee Telugu airing the Telugu, Zee Kannada for the Kannada version, and Zee Keralam for the Malayalam dubbing.

Corresponding The time of Indiathe rights were sold for a staggering Rs 100 crore – the same amount spent on the entire film budget!
A release date has not yet been communicated by ZEE Network or Hombale Films, but the film is expected to premiere around 8 weeks after its theatrical release – in line with the recent trend in the Indian cinema industry.
Fresh in March 2021 rumours began circulating online that the film had been sold to Amazon for Rs 55 crore. However, the LetsOTT Global Twitter page specified that Amazon Prime was still negotiating the digital release of the post-production. As of opening day, the international streaming rights were not shared.

Dubbing languages revealed
KGF Chapter 2 will be dubbed in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu languages in theaters, it said The time of India.
There were plans for the Hindi dubbed version of KGF Chapter 2 to be done by Yash himself, who said he wants to perfect his accent for Hindi dialogue.
However, it was then uncovered that Yash would not be working on the dubbing, stating that the accent might be too difficult for viewers to understand on the big screen.
An unusual controversy to overcome
KGF Chapter 2 has just hit theaters, but the film has already seen its production in hot water. In January 2021, following a complaint from Karnataka State’s Anti-Tobacco Cell, the film had to overcome a rather unusual controversy.
The group submitted a notice to actor Yash, producer Vijay Kiragandur and Prashanth Neel because anti-smoking messages were not displayed when the main character’s image often shows a lit cigarette.
“Both the teaser and the poster encourage smoking. Yash, you’re a heartthrob and you have a huge following. Their actions should not mislead the youth. We want you to join our campaign against cigarette smoking.” – Karnataka State Anti-Tobacco Cell Notice, via India today.
How shared in The weekthe cell added that “such visuals (of smoking) from a star with thousands of followers, especially the youth, affect the young minds and make them start smoking, making them vulnerable to diseases like cancer.”
