New York Knicks Linked With Surprise Anthony Davis Approach
The Los Angeles Lakers experienced a horrific season, and that may well lead to wholesale changes at the Crypto.com Arena; and there is growing speculation that Anthony Davis may be on his way out, and there is talk of a surprise move to the New York Knicks for the 29-year-old.
Davis managed just 40 starts this season, mainly due to an ankle injury that saw him miss 18 games, and his displays when fully fit were hardly groundbreaking. All of this means that the former New Orleans Hornets man failed to make it to the NBA All-Star game for the first time since 2013.
If the Knicks were to secure such a high-profile addition, then this may well lead to a change in fortunes for the Madison Square Garden team and could even lead to action at sports-betting-ny.com, where you’ll find unbiased and genuine reviews to help you locate the best sportsbooks that suit your needs and budget.
NBA expert Bill Simmons believes that such a move is distinctly possible, stating;
“I think the Knicks would overpay for him. I think the Knicks are ready to dive in this summer. That’s my take.”
Such a move would be a surprise but would be something of a statement of intent that could prove a calculated risk worth taking, though one wonders if Anthony Smith would be convinced that such a move would be beneficial to his career.
On the possibility that he could be on his way out at the Lakers, Davis has been fairly honest about how the NBA works;
“I can’t control those things,”
“That’s an upstairs thing. A Klutch, Rich Paul thing. My agency. “I mean, my job is to go out and play basketball. Obviously, I love it in L.A. If that’s something that they’re considering, then we’ll have a conversation about it. I don’t know what they’re talking about; what’s the plan.”
Davis then added;
“I mean, I don’t think they’re planning on doing anything [with me],” he said. “I don’t know, man. F—, I don’t know.”
Everyone at the Lakers is hurting right now; that’s what happens when you experience such a horrendous season. It’s not how many had predicted the season would pan out. New additions brought in by general manager Rob Pelinka should have led to LeBron James and his team pushing into the post-season; instead, they finished with a woeful 33-49 regular-season record that led to the firing of Frank Vogel, just two years after he led the team to a first NBA title in a decade.
A lot of the blame for the poor season was leveled at Russell Westbrook, but in truth, a number of players were found wanting, and the long time out with injury that curtailed Davis’s season was also a factor that couldn’t be avoided.
One imagines there will be plenty of changes occurring at the Lakers in the postseason, but Davis moving to the Knicks does seem a little too far fetched at this stage.
