Famous Basketball Players Who Smoke Cannabis

Have you ever wondered if there are any famous basketball players that smoke weed? Thanks to the relaxing qualities of this drug, the sport boasts a fair number of tokers.

The ready availability of cannabis seeds in Florida means that many players have easy access to weed.

Let’s take a closer look at some players who are as good with a bong as they are with a ball.

LeBron James

LeBron James is probably one of the most renowned NBA players smoking weed.

In his autobiography, the player admitted smoking weed in high school with his friends and fellow players.

Does LeBron James smoke weed these days? The basketball superstar claims to have moved on and takes better care of his body these days.

Considering his sterling record, which includes two Olympic gold medals, we’d say this NBA superstar is none the worse for wear.

Do LeBron James and co. smoke anything else? We know for sure that they smoke the occasional celebratory cigar.

Klay Thompson

In 2011, the fuzz arrested this basketball heavy-hitter for cannabis possession. But does Klay Thompson smoke weed?

The player claims to use cannabis for pain relief and says he doesn’t support the use of recreational marijuana.

Be that as it may, Thompson is almost certainly a regular toker.

Vlade Divac?

Photos of Vlade Divac smoking cigarettes are a dime a dozen, and this player smokes like a chimney. Does he indulge in anything other than tobacco, though?

While some fans seem to think so, there isn’t any concrete proof.

Joakim Noah

Joakim Noah and weed go together like peanut butter and jelly. Gainesville cops busted the former NBA star in 2008 for marijuana possession.

According to reports, one high school he attended expelled him for the same offense. Furthermore, fans have seen the player shopping for bongs multiple times.

While several such events have confirmed that the player is a toker, he remains tight-lipped about the drug.

Kevin Durant

Among the NBA players who smoke weed, Kevin Durant is probably one of the most well-known activists.

He has shares in a cannabis investment and acquisition company and partners with a marijuana e-commerce company on his website.

The athlete has been toting the advantages of medicinal marijuana for quite some time and has defended the drug, saying, “It’s like drinking wine.”

Earlier this year, Durant appeared on the Netflix show ‘My Guest Needs No Introduction.’ He admitted to being high at the time and took an avid stance toward legalizing the drug.

Durandt is probably the most open and honest of the famous basketball players who smoke weed.

Matt Barnes

Matt Barnes is a confessed weed user, and people have filmed him lighting up before games.

As with Kevin Durant, he’s a highly vocal advocate for cannabis use who readily promotes the drug.

The athlete has been using cannabis since he was 14 years old and has failed at least two drug tests during his NBA career.

On the Rich Eisen Show, Barnes claimed that the drug helps him to relax, deal with pain, and maintain a regular sleep schedule.

The basketball star also indicated that he’d like to see a revamp of the rules surrounding cannabis use and his sport.

While rules and regulations are essential, he says he’d like to see an education campaign regarding the benefits of cannabis.

After seeing the drug’s effects on his life, he’d also like to see the stigmas and stereotypes around cannabis fade.

He’s one of the most honest NBA players that smoke weed when it comes to the benefits it gives him.

NBA Players That Smoke Weed Before Games

Whether they grow their own from Kush seeds or buy it somewhere, there are many basketball players that smoke weed, including the best and brightest.

Several, if not most, of these players light up before a game to help reduce stress and pain or to increase focus.

Just a couple of these NBA players include:

  • Shaun Smith
  • Matt Barnes
  • Bill Walton
  • Klay Thompson
  • Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

We’re sure that many other NBA players also indulged before games. When asked, “Who smokes in the NBA,” retired players like Kenyon Martin estimated that roughly 85% of NBA stars do.

If so many of the best and brightest light up, it’s fair to say that cannabis benefits professional athletes and others.
