Leaks Confirm That Mary Jane Watson Will Come to Fortnite

Epic Games is increasing its list of Marvel cross-over skins. The next rumored addition to the roster is the iconic red-headed girlfriend of the comic book’s version Spider-Man.

Epic Games’ Fortnite is on a Spider-Man fever as developers keep adding new skins inspired by the latest MCU movie Spider-Man: No Way Home. The latest MCU character from the Spider-verse to enter the battle royale game is the most recent version of the Green Goblin. It didn’t take too long for developers to tease another character that is set to make an appearance in the game. Leakers have now revealed that Mary Jane Watson is going to be available in the Fortnite Item Shop very soon.

Spider-Man’s Girlfriend Is Coming

Fortnite has been releasing multiple characters based on the Spider-Man universe due to the hype the movies are generating. A Fortnite leak has now shown that Spider-Man’s famous girlfriend is coming to Fortnite as the next Marvel character skin. Though it is still unclear when the cosmetic will be available for gamers will Fortnite accounts, players have assumed that it will come very soon since the next season is about to drop within the month.

Fortnite has a long history of crossover events, the developers use them to cross-promote and attract fans from other legendary media franchises. Some of the promotional celebrations have become cultural touchstones, such as Marshmello’s concert. 

While the decision to release a Mary Jane skin was a result of the Spider-Man movie’s popularity, fans are quick to note that the leaked design of the character is not based on the MCU’s version of the popular Marvel character. Instead, Mary Jane Watson will be sporting her iconic red-headed version based on the actual Spider-Man comics. So, this is less of an MCU crossover as much as a comic book version. 

The Fortnite version of MJ wears a brown leather jack over a black shirt with a heart-shaped face of Spider-Man printed on the front. She also wears crimson-colored pants along with black leather boots. 

There are currently no other details about the upcoming skin aside from her current character design. However, it is also unclear if this will be the final get-up of the Marvel character. There is no information on how much V-bucks that cosmetic’s bundle will cost and how many add-ons the skin will have. Players will just have to wait a few more weeks to see what they can get and how they need to acquire the red-head Mary Jane Watson.

Leaks are supposed to be taken with a grain of salt. However, most Fortnite leaks so far have been very accurate, so it is safe to say that the entry of Marvel’s Mary Jane into the game is all but confirmed. Most of the time, these leaks are data mined from easily accessible areas before they go live, so Fortnite players won’t have to wait for a long time for the skin to go live.

The MCU’s version of MJ, full name Michelle Jones-Watson, was already released a while back along with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. The pair’s cosmetics were released just a few weeks after the start of Fortnite’s Chapter 3. Just a few weeks ago, Spider-Man’s archnemesis, the Green Goblin, was also added to the increasing list of Marvel character skins available in the battle royale game.

Epic Games has been famous for partnering with other gaming titles, series, and movies to make cross-over character skins. There have been a lot of iconic characters who have appeared in the hit battle royale game like Kratos from God of War, Team 7 from Naruto Shippuden, and Iron-Man from the MCU. From the pace the gaming studio is going, it seems that the cross-over skins won’t stop anytime soon.

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1: Flipped is still live, but it will end on March 19, 2021. There is still some time before the season concludes, so players can still try to climb up the leaderboard. Gamers can also choose to sit back and relax as they wait for the new Mary Jane Watson skin to drop in the Fortnite Item Shop.
